Mustafa Suleyman, Microsoft's head of AI, says conscious superintelligence should not be built

In an article published on X this Sunday, titled “Don't build conscious superintelligence”, the CEO of Microsoft AI argues that current AIs are not conscious and that the industry should not pursue conscious machines. According to Business Insider, he calls developing conscious AI reckless and says he would advocate a pause if signs of consciousness emerged, in line with Microsoft's “humanist superintelligence” proposal.
